CASE STUDY #2 |

| Revolving
Goat Bank: Farmers come together and are "loaned" goats. As the goats
have off-spring, farmers keep some and the rest are returned to the goat
bank. These "returned" goats are then "loaned" to other farmers, who also
return some of the off-spring to the goat bank. In this way, families are
give n access to better nutrition (through meat and milk), plus the option
to earn income from selling any extra meat and milk. These funds are then
used by the families to address other needs such as digging and maintaining
wells for clean water etc. Gravity -Fed Irrigation: In essence, creating artificial streams to better direct water from rainfall and other natural sources down the hillside. This system reduces erosion and allows the rainfall to irrigate crops as the water flows through each area. |
