	2. Give the farmers seeds for some alternative crops so they can grow different kinds of food. Seeds are not enough. Although this option would certainly address the need to broaden the food base, the farmers must be shown and taught how to grow these less familiar crops. And ideally, the training has to come from other local farmers so that the training is accepted by the target farmers.
